A quote from Richard Avedon’s obituary in the New York Times about says it best, “his fashion and portrait photographs helped define America’s image of style, beauty and culture for the last half-century.”
For me, I feel that he took glamor and fashion and he made it gritty. He also took gritty and made it glamorous. With “In The American West” he proved that not only can he take a great photo, but he can tell a great story with it.
